Expressions of Interest for BC Ferry Services Board Appointment

Established in 2003 under the Coastal Ferry Act, the BC Ferry Authority is the sole voting shareholder for BC Ferry Services Inc. (or commonly known as BC Ferries).  The Authority is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of BC Ferry Services in support of the public interest, approving compensation plans for BCFS directors and the company’s executives and appointing directors to the BCFS Board.

BC Ferry Services is an independently managed company providing essential ferry services on the coast of British Columbia. The company provides vehicle and passenger service on 25 regulated routes pursuant to a long-term services contract with the Province of British Columbia.  Further information on BC Ferry Services can be found on its website.

Qualified individuals who are interested in serving on the BC Ferry Services Board are invited to put their name forward for appointment.

Qualifications

A Skills and Experience Profile for the BC Ferry Services Board helps guide the selection process for appointments to the Board.

At this time, one or more of the following competencies and experience is preferred.

  • Public sector or public service leadership experience.
  • Experience in the rapidly evolving marketplace for new mobility.
  • Leadership experience in a customer service business.
  • Experience in organized labour.

Term

BCFS directors are appointed for an initial term of 2 years, may be reappointed and cannot serve more than 8 consecutive years.
