Elizabeth J. Harrison, Q.C. - Chair

Elizabeth Harrison holds a law degree from the University of Alberta. She joined Farris, Vaughan, Wills & Murphy, Barristers and Solicitors, in 1973 and has been a partner of that firm since 1978. Ms. Harrison practises in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, securities, corporate finance, and general corporate and commercial law. She is a member of the Vancouver, Canadian and International Bar Associations and has served as a director of the International Finance Centre, various corporations and committees. She has been a member of the boards of the St. Paul's Hospital Foundation and Vancouver Opera, and has served as vice-chair of Crofton House School.

Christopher C. Gardner
(Province of B.C.)

Chris Gardner is Vice President, Planning and Corporate Development at the Britco Group. Britco is the largest modular building manufacturer in the Pacific Northwest and an Official Supplier of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Mr. Gardner’s experience includes work in the Asia Pacific as a Director of Corporate Finance for ING Investment Bank as well as positions in the International Finance Department of Samsung Electronics and at the law firm of Lee & Ko in Seoul, South Korea. In the community, Mr. Gardner is a member of the Capital Committee for the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation and of the Organizing Committee for the Surrey Regional Economic Summit. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia. 


Holly A. Haston-Grant
(Central Vancouver Island and Northern Georgia Strait appointment area)

Holly Haston-Grant of Comox, a partner in Guthrie Trade Center and owner of Eastridge Enterprises Ltd., brings a wide range of business skills to the existing Board. Ms. Haston-Grant has an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and is currently a director of the Comox Valley Community Foundation, the Rotary Club of Comox and serves on the Asset Management Committee of Community Futures Strathcona. Prior to her present interests, Ms. Haston-Grant owned and operated Grant Floors and Window Fashions Ltd. for over 15 years. 


Donald P. Hayes
(Southern Vancouver Island appointment area)

Donald Hayes is currently the President and CEO of Hayes Forest Services Limited. He serves as Chair of the Board of the Royal B.C. Museum and has past experience in a variety of Boards, including Forest Renewal B.C., Truck Loggers Association and New Relationship Trust and First Nations Initiatives. Mr. Hayes has a Bachelor of Commerce and is a Chartered Accountant.

Brian G. Kenning
(Southern Mainland appointment area) 

Brian Kenning is presently a Director on the Boards of British Columbia Railway Company ("BCRC"), MacDonald Dettwiler and Royal Oak Ventures. Brian is past  Chair of the B.C. Cancer Foundation and past governor of the BC Business Council. He was formerly a director of Catalyst Paper Ltd and Managing Partner of Brookfield Asset Management (formerly Brascan Corporation). Mr. Kenning has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics and an MBA..

Gordon R. Larkin
(Organized labour)

Gordon Larkin is a recently retired Pacific Region Representative with the Canadian Labour Congress. Prior to his 25 years of service to working people throughout BC and the Yukon, Mr. Larkin was a commercial fisherman on BC’s west coast. As such he developed an intimate understanding of BC’s west coast communities and their dependence upon reliable maritime transportation. His career has included involvement in numerous community and political initiatives. A former Director of the Pacific National Exhibition, Member of the BC Racing Commission and long serving member of the Campaign Labour Committee of the United Way of the Lower Mainland, Mr. Larkin is the 2007 recipient of the United Way’s Joe Morris Award in recognition of his commitment to building a better community.

Jane L. Peverett
(Community-at-large)

Jane Peverett is a corporate director, serving on the boards of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, EnCana Corporation and Northwest Natural Gas. Until January 2009, Jane was the President & CEO of BC Transmission Corporation. Prior to that, Jane spent 15 years with Westcoast Energy in a variety of senior roles, including President & CEO of Union Gas Limited in Ontario. Jane has an MBA, is a Certified Management Accountant and was made a Fellow of the Society of Management Accountants in 2003. She has been a supporter of the United Way for many years, most recently serving on the Campaign Cabinet for two years.

Stephen E. Smith
(Northern Coastal and North Island appointment area)

Stephen Smith is president and/or CEO of a number of Prince Rupert hospitality-related businesses, including companies that own and operate the Crest Hotel, and the Pacific Inn. Mr. Smith is a Certified Hotel Administrator and is currently a long-standing director of the BC Hotels Association, Hospitality Industrial Relations and Tourism Prince Rupert. He spent six years as a director of Tourism British Columbia, serving five years on the Executive as Chair of Operations and Business Development. Mr. Smith has previous experience as a former director of B.C. Ferries and has served on the North and Mid-Coast Ferry Advisory as Chair for the past number of years. Mr. Smith has served his community as President of the Chamber of Commerce, Alderman for the City of Prince Rupert and as a representative on the Skeena Queen Charlotte Regional District. He was the recipient of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee medal in 2003. He was granted Distinguished Member status with the Association of Tourism Professionals in 1996, in recognition of outstanding professional development and activity in the tourism industry. Previous to his 21 years in the hospitality industry, Mr. Smith spent 20 years in the retail apparel business on the north coast.

Graham M. Wilson
(Province of B.C.)

Graham Wilson has extensive experience in business and corporate finance having served from 1988 to 2002 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Westcoast Energy and concurrently President and Chief Executive Officer of the Services Division for Westcoast Energy from 2000 - 2002. Previously Mr. Wilson served for five years as Vice President Finance and Administration for PetroCanada Inc. and prior to that was for nine years Vice President Finance of MacMillan Bloedel. Mr. Wilson currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Itron Inc., Hardwoods Income Trust, Naikun Wind Energy Group and Daylight Resource Income Trust. Mr. Wilson holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Science from McGill University.
